This policy outlines the commitment of IMST to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children who are enrolled at our school. It sets out the framework for the school’s approach to safeguarding and child protection, including the identification of child protection concerns, the reporting of such concerns, and the provision of appropriate support and protection for children who may be at risk of harm.
IMST is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children in our care. We recognize that we have a responsibility to promote the welfare of children and to protect them from harm, abuse, and neglect. We will achieve this through the following principles:
Ensuring that all staff and teachers working in the school have undergone appropriate background checks and are aware of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and child protection.
Providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all children, regardless of their background or personal circumstances.
Ensuring that all children have access to appropriate support and protection when needed, including access to professional support services and the ability to report concerns or disclosures.
Promoting an open and transparent culture in which children feel safe to report concerns, and concerns are taken seriously and acted upon appropriately.
Working in partnership with parents and carers, other schools, and relevant agencies to promote the welfare and safety of children.
All members of staff at IMST have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Specific roles and responsibilities are outlined as follows:
Counselor: The Counselor is responsible for coordinating safeguarding and child protection activities within the school, ensuring that staff are trained and aware of their responsibilities, and acting as the point of contact for external agencies and professionals.
All Staff: All members of staff have a responsibility to report any safeguarding or child protection concerns to the Counselor or vice principal as soon as possible, and to support children who may be at risk of harm or abuse.
If a member of staff has a concern that a child may be at risk of harm, abuse or neglect, they should report their concerns to the Counselor as soon as possible. The school will then follow the appropriate procedures, including making referrals to external agencies if necessary, to ensure that the child is safeguarded and protected from harm.
All staff, volunteers, and contractors working in the school will receive regular training on safeguarding and child protection. This will include awareness raising, understanding signs and indicators of abuse, responding to concerns, and appropriate recording and reporting procedures. The school will also provide access to appropriate support services for children who may be at risk of harm, abuse, or neglect.
This policy will be reviewed and updated annually to ensure that it remains current and effective. Any changes to the policy will be communicated to staff and parents in a timely manner.
